Esquire Raises The Question to Tata – Do You Care About Jaguar?

The American automotive industry is in turmoil as of late – constant cut backs, lay offs, buy-outs and bail-outs. So what does Jaguar have to do with it? Is the situation so bad that foreign motor companies could suffer? Many feel foreign companies can actually help the American car companies – or at least their ex-employees – by opening new assembly lines on US soil.

Esquire Magazine wanted an answer about just how much Tata cares about Jaguar, their latest Jaguar XF, and where the company is heading when it comes to design, pricing and how to market their vehicle. Unfortunately for the people at Esquire, no one at Tata is Tattling (see what we did there?) – the company is silent when it comes to marketing plans for the franchise they purchased from Ford Motor Company. One opinion made in the article we absolutely agree with – “With Tata at the helm, Jaguar might become a company that can come out of left field and deliver an actual surprise once in a while.” – We hope this is the case.

Jaguar’s 2009 XF features Coupe-like design and performance mixed with the room and luxury of a mid-sized sedan. This manifestation of Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum came to fruition more than two years after his work on the 2006 XK model – and as you can see from the shots below Callum & Jag have grown together to produce a gorgeous new addition to the auto maker’s catalogue. Buyers can expect a starting price of $62,000-plus when the XF goes on sale later this year. Aside from looks, their Supercharged version of Jaguar’s XF contains a 4.2L V8 producing 420 horsepower. Take THAT BMW & Mercedes!
